• A participatory course with a series of activities to deepen appreciation of one of the Buddha's fundamental teachings: The Noble Eightfold Path.  The Eightfold Path is a remarkably simple, direct expression of the ingredients that are most fruitful in attaining the wisdom, stability, and harmonious activity that allows us to pierce through our delusion. These three ingredients, known as kai (precepts), jo (samadhi or concentration) and e (wisdom) are the aims of Zen practice.  Readings from the Pali Canon, including from the fifth and final part of the Samyutta Nikaya (Connected Discourses of the Buddha) which is called the Mahavagga (Great Book). The required readings are Section 45 Maggasamyutta (Connected Discourses on the Path) and Section 56 Saccasamyutta (Connected Discourses on the Truths). Other selections from the Mahavagga.
